Weight classes

Every division Kalv carries, with the limit that decides it.

These are the tables the app plans against. Where a federation writes its limits in pounds — boxing, and the Unified Rules of MMA — the pound is the rule and the kilo is the conversion; everywhere else it is the other way round. A limit is a ceiling: you make the division at the number or under it, never over. A + means the division has no upper limit.

Unified Rules of MMA

The limits every athletic commission and every major promotion runs on. A title fight allows no margin; a non-title bout usually allows one pound.

Boxing, kickboxing and muay thai

Professional boxing limits — and the table most kickboxing and muay thai promotions run on

Seventeen divisions a side, and Kalv gives all three sports this one table — though the women’s seventeen open at atomweight, 102 lb, and carry no cruiserweight. Promotions do vary — a Thai stadium and a European kickboxing card will not agree on every limit, and ONE Championship runs its own system entirely — so the number that counts is the one on your bout agreement. Set it by hand in the app and everything is computed from it.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu

IBJJF adult, weighed in the gi

The uniform you compete in is on the scale — the gi here, and the no-gi kit for no-gi. One attempt, no second try. The division names repeat across both formats but the limits do not: the no-gi chart runs 2 to 3 kg lighter and the gap widens with the divisions — Light 76.0 against 73.5, Middle 82.3 against 79.5, Super Heavy 100.5 against 97.5.

If your promotion runs its own limits, set the target by hand in the app — Kalv plans against whatever number you give it. More on how those numbers are built in the FAQ.
